Exercising is so important for your body, especially as a woman since we can literally create life with it. At first, just the thought of having to workout can be intimidating but what really matters is your progress and not how perfect you first start out as. Exercising doesn’t need to be complicated at all. That's why I’m giving you my best tips to create healthy, sustainable, and enjoyable ways to effectively start your fitness journey.

  1. Start Slow: It’s important to take things slow in the gym. The first week is going to be the hardest and probably most confusing. So take this time to familiarize yourself with the equipment and just go to get in a short little ab workout. Any amount of exercise is good exercise.

  2. Try Weight lifting: My personal favorite type of exercise is weight lifting. It helps with bone density, and reduces the risk of osteoporosis which is common in older people and in women. It will also help with your posture and balance. It’s also a great way to feel and look stronger and also build muscle.

  3. Be Consistent: Being consistent is so crucial. Going 2-3 times a week is enough to see progress. Even if you don’t have time to go for the gym or a run, a simple 30 minute walk is enough. Being consistent with your exercise will eventually give you more joint stability, flexibility, and improved cardiovascular health.

  4. Find a Schedule: Do what is best for you. Everyone’s schedules look different. If working out in the morning works best for you then great. It all depends on what your day looks like. Sometimes you may not have enough time to work out but it’s also about priority. If working out isn’t a big priority for you, you are more likely to put it on the back burner and just not do it.

  5. Over-Exercising: It is so important to not over-exercise. It is in no way good for your health. It will lead to a multitude of problems like over-exhaustion, slowed metabolism, and even period loss. Workout to feel your best and take care of your body. Your body is a temple so treat it as such.

  6. What to Exercise: To help with your fitness journey, I like to break my workouts into 4 different sections. This includes the upper body(arms, biceps, triceps), lower body(hamstrings, glutes, calves, quads), abs, and cardio(running, HIIT).

These are the tips I have to best start your fitness journey, but again, it’s what works for you and your body. Remember to love your body and take care of it.

Love, Always,

-Sophie
