Nutrition

Nutrition in general is very important to how the body functions and survives. It’s good to know how to fuel your body and obtain a healthy balanced diet. As a woman I know what it’s like to struggle with food, but what is more important, being skinny, or fueling your body so that you may live a healthy and active lifestyle?  Here are some tips that I use!

  1. Don’t Under Eat: Under-eating can be so dangerous. It will not help you become skinny because your metabolism slows down. This happens if your body isn’t getting enough or proper nutrition, so it goes into starvation mode, holding onto things like fat in your body to help keep it running.

  2. Meal Prep: Meal prepping is a great practice to use throughout the week. Not only will this prevent you from struggling to figure out what you're having for dinner but it will also help you from eating out which will save you money.

  3. Fiber & Protein: Foods high in fiber and protein in your meals will keep you satiated and help you not overeat.

  4. Stay Hydrated: Drinking lots of water throughout the day is also very important. It lubricates your joints, transports nutrients, and regulates body temperature.

  5. Meals: Eating three meals a day is good because it will keep your body energized and on a routine.

  6. Eat Whole Foods: Try to eat whole foods. Processed foods like candy and chips are ok to eat but eating them everyday is bad. They have been linked to causing cancer and have other body damaging chemicals in them.

  7. Be intuitive: Listen to your body! If your body is telling you you are full then stop eating. And vice versa if your body is telling you you need to eat. Everyone’s bodies are different, so be intuitive to yours and listen to it.

  8. Try New Foods: Trying new foods is a great way to expand your palette and incorporate different foods into your diet.

  9. Perimeters of the Grocery: In 90% of the grocery stores you go into, your staples and healthy foods are on the outside or the perimeter of the store, which means the junk food is in the aisles. So things like your vegetables, fruits, milk, and eggs are all on the outside.

Remembering and following these tips can be super helpful when trying to create a balanced and healthy diet. Fueling your body with the right foods is such a great way to nurture your body. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring. There are so many recipes and videos you can find that will be healthy and appealing to you!
